Dr. Li Hongxia has engaged in refractory field for more than 20 years, focusing on the fundamental research and original innovation of advanced refractories as well as application technologies. Currently, she is the director of the state key lab of advanced refractories, director of national engineering research center of refractories in China, executive member of the Chinese Metal Society, chairman of refractory committee of the Chinese Metal Society, chairman of All China technical committee for standardization of refractories. She is also IEB member of UNITECR. She once was the chairman of ISO/TC33 for 9 years from 2008 to 2016.
Dr. Li Hongxia has established new methods for refractory research, which considers the effect of multi-factors of service environment by integration of physical, numerical and high-temperature simulation. She invented technologies improving key service properties of functional refractories applied in metallurgical industry, and the service life of innovative products was increased by more than 30%. She achieved integrated technologies improving service life of refractory linings for COREX-C3000, oxygen-rich shaft furnace…, developed nano insulating materials with low thermal conductivity and low–cost by adding industry fume for metallurgical vessels, and developed series key refractory materials and provided total refractory solution for different coal gasification technologies. The series innovative technologies have been transferred to domestic and abroad refractory companies.
Dr. Li Hongxia holds 45 patents and published more than 220 papers. She has won many awards, including 2nd the State Technological Invention Award, granted by the State Council of China. Currently, Dr. Li Hongxia has concentrated her attention to develop new advanced refractories with tailored service performance, such as long service life, functionalization, lightweight and ecological-friendly design, to meet the requirements of green development of high temperature industries.
