Dr. En-Hou Han is the full professor, Director of National Engineering Center for Corrosion Control, Director of CAS Key Lab for Nuclear materials and Safety Assessment the Institute of Metal Research, Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS). President of Shenyang Branch, CAS.
Prof. Han received Ph.D. degree from Northeastern University in China in 1990. He worked at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) during 1995-1998 as research scientist. He has published more than 500 peer reviewed scientific papers, 115 plenary, keynote and invited lecture, and hold 110 patents. His papers were cited more than 15,000 times. As co-editor, he has 5 books (4 in Chinese, 1 in English). He also contributed chapters for other 6 books.
Prof. Han’s research interests include (1) Interaction of mechanics and chemistry, including corrosion fatigue, stress corrosion cracking and hydrogen embrittlement for various materials in hash environments; (2) Corrosion prevention techniques etc.; (3) Service lifetime prediction and failure analysis for engineering structure and components; (4) R & D of corrosion resistant alloys in severe industry environment.
Prof. Han received various awards and honors including the Whitney Award from NACE International (2016), Ho-Leung-Ho-Lee Technology Science Award (2012), Ryukiti Hasiguti Foundation Prize (2010), Fellow of NACE International (2008), Distinguished Scientist from Chinese Association for Science and Technology (2010), Distinguished Research Progress Award of China, National Science and Technology Awards of China, National Technique Invention Awards of China, Science and Technology Government Awards of China, Top 100 person in Science and Technology in New Century of China, etc.
Prof. Han is active in the corrosion and materials’ communities. He was elected as the President of (UN) World Corrosion Organization (WCO), Vice President of Chinese Society for Corrosion and Protection, Vice President of Chinese Association of Anti-Corrosion, etc. Currently he is serving for several journals as editor such as Corrosion Science, Materials and Corrosion, Metals and Materials International, The Journal of Progress in Natural Science: Materials International, Acta Metallurgica Sinica, etc., serving for several materials’ societies, such as President of Chinese Society for Fatigue, Executive Board Member of Chinese Materials Research Society, Research Committee of NACE International, President of Asian Pacific Materials Academy (APAM).
