Junhao Chu is the Professor of Shanghai Institute of Technical Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and the School of Information Science and Technology, East China of Normal University. He obtained his BSc in Physics from Shanghai Normal University in 1966 and PhD in Physics from Chinese Academy of Sciences in 1984. Since 1984 he has been join the SITP, CAS up to now. From March 1986 to October 1988 he was a Humboldt Fellow at Technical University of Munchen, Germany. In 1992 he was promoted to be a professor at SITP and had been the director of National Laboratory for Infrared Physics, CAS from July 1993 to March 2002. He was elected as a Member of Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2005. From 2007 he has been also a Professor of East China Normal University and Dean of School of Information Science and Technology at East China Normal University.
Junhao Chu is a Fellow of SPIE. From 2010 to 2012 he had been the Board of Director, SPIE. He is a Chief Editor of Chinese Journal of Infrared and Millimeter waves. In 2014, he was awarded the sixth session "Top ten national excellent science and technology workers" in China.
Junhao Chu has published more than 400 papers and 4 monographs. He has presented over 150 keynote or invited talks at international conferences and meetings. He got National Natural Science Awards in China for three times. His current research interests include narrow gap semiconductor materials, ferroelectric materials and multi-ferroelectric and magnetic materials as well as photovoltaic materials.
