Desheng Xue

Desheng Xue is the Head of Key Lab for Magnetism and Magnetic Materials of the Ministry of Education, dean and professor of the School of Physical Science and Technology, Lanzhou University.

He obtained his BSc in Physics, MSc in Condensed Matter Physics, and PhD in Nuclear Physics from Lanzhou University in 1985, 1988, and 1995 respectively. Desheng became a teaching assistant in 1988, a lecture in 1990, an associate professor in 1992 and a full professor in 1998 in Department of Physics, Lanzhou University. He worked as a postdoctoral associate in Department of Chemistry, Lanzhou University from 1995-97, as a visiting scholar in Department of Physics, University of Salford from 1997-98, as a research professor, group leader of Chinese side of CIDA project in Department of Physics and Astronomy, University of Manitoba from 1999-2000, as an advanced professor of DAAD project in chair of electronic devices, University of Hagen from 2001-02, as a senior research scientist in Department of Materials Science and Engineering, National University of Singapore in 2009.

Desheng is a reviewer of following international journals: Journal of American Chemical Society; Advanced Materials; Nanotechnology; Journal of Physics: Condensed Matter; Material Letter; Journal of Physica E; Materials Research Bulletin, etc.

Desheng has published more than 270 papers with a total of 2,000 citations. He has presented over 10 invited talks at international meetings and conferences. His current research interests include the GHz magnetic materials with high permeability, high density recording media based on nanowire arrays and the magnetism of low dimensional system.
