Jun Xu is the Changjiang Scholars Chair Professor at the School of Electronic Science and Engineering, Nanjing University and Tangzhongying Chair Professor at National Laboratory of Solid State Microstructures. He obtained his BSc in Physics from Nanjing University in 1989. From 1993-1995, he joined School of Engineering in Hiroshima University, Japan as a joint PhD student and he achieved his PhD in Physics from Nanjing university in 1995. Since then, he joined the Department of Physics and National Laboratory of Solid State Microstructures (NLSSM). From 1998-2007, he served as Deputy Director of NLSSM and became a professor in Microelectronics in 2003. In 2000, he was a Visiting Researcher at Dept. of Electrical Engineering, Chinese University of Hong Kong. From 2004 to 2005, he served as a Visiting Professor in Hiroshima University, Japan. Currently, he is the head of Department of Microelectronics and Optoelectronics and the Deputy Director of Virtual Laboratory of Solid State Microstructures of Ministry of Education.
Jun Xu is a senior Member of Chinese Society of Micro-nano Technology (CSMNT), a member of the Material Research Society (MRS) and The Optical Society of America (OSA). He is a member of the editorial boards of European Physical Journal-Applied Physics and Dataset Papers in Materials Science. In 2000, he was awarded the best young teacher award of Ministry of Education, China. He achieved the 2nd level National Nature Science Awards in 2003 and was awarded the Outstanding Young Investigators of NSFC in 2004.
Jun Xu has published more than 120 SCI-index papers with a total of over 1400 citations. He has presented over 20 invited talks at international and national conferences and symposium. His current research interests include Si-based nanostructures and nano-devices, Si photonics and semiconductor thin films and device applications.
