Dianzhong Li is a researcher/professor at the Institute of Metal Research, Chinese Academy of Sciences(CAS). He obtained his BEng and PhD in Material Science and Engineering from Harbin Institute of Technology in 1989 and 1998, respectively. He was a Senior Engineer at Shenyang Research Institute of Foundry From1992 to 1997. He was Awarded by CAS Hundred Talent Program From1998 to 2001. In 2001 he was a visiting scientist as the Royal Society Fellow at the University of Birmingham. In 2001 he became a researcher/professor at the Institute of Metal Research, CAS.
He is a member of the general technology term of experts for Major Project of High-grade CNC Machine Tools and Basic Manufacturing Equipment and a member of the Review Board of National Office for Science & Technology Awards. He is Co-chair of Computational Material Science Branch, Chinese Materials Research Society. He is a member of the editorial board of Acta Metallurgica Sinica and Chinese Journal of Material Research.
He has published more than 100 papers in refereed journals and obtained many patents. As the first accomplisher, he was awarded the second prize by National Award for Science and Technology Progress. His current research interests include optimization of chemical composition and control of alloy phases of key material for heavy castings and forgings; cleanliness theory and control technology of large cast steel slabs; modelling of material processing and defects controlling; modelling of nucleation and growth dynamic during metal solidification process; modelling of microstructure evolution of steels during hot deformation.
