Hengzhi Fu

Prof. Hengzhi Fu, born in August 1929, is the well-renowned scientist on materials and metallurgy, professor, and doctoral tutor. He received his bachelor’s degree from Northwestern Polytechnical Institute (now the NPU) in 1950, master’s degree from Harbin Institute of Technology in 1955, and his Ph.D from Saint Petersburg State University in Soviet Union. He worked as the director of Department of Foundry, the director of Department of Scientific Research, the dean of Department of Materials Science and Engineering, and the President of Northwestern Polytechnical University. He was elected as the chairman of the Shaanxi Institute of Aviation in 1986, the member of Standing Committee of China Aviation Society(CAS) and vice director of CAS in 1987,the member of Standing Committee of China Materials Society in 1991, the member of International University Academy of Sciences in 1993, foreign member of the Russian Academy of Astronautics and academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering in 1995.

He also won a National Science and Technology Progress Award and two Invention Award by the State, a National Excellent Teaching Achievement Award, 12 awards by Ministries, and published more than 300 academic papers and 5 academic monographs at home and abroad.
