Under the leadership of L.I. Leontyev:

- theoretical foundations were developed for energy- and resource-saving technologies for processing complex ores containing iron, vanadium, titanium, chromium, nickel, aluminum, magnesium and other components;

- the conditions for the formation of environmentally hazardous compounds (nitrogen oxides, furans, dioxins) have been determined and the parameters of metallurgical processes that minimize the formation of such compounds during the processing of toxic materials have been substantiated;

- the universal technology for processing various types of waste using pyrometallurgical processes was developed and tested;

- the studies on the processing of metal phases in oxide matrices were carried out.
