Kulchin Yuri Nikolaevich

Research interests: the creation of adaptive waveguide sensors, the development of laser methods for diagnosing liquid and gaseous media, the study of the optical properties of nanostructured media, the research and development of nanoscale biosilicate materials with a given structure and functions.

The main work on the study of the physical processes of collecting and processing information in the functional devices of integrated and fiber optics, the development of a new class of high-speed analog waveguide processors and adaptive distributed optoelectronic information-measuring systems.

He carried out research on dynamic waveguide holography, the definition of limiting possibilities and the development of the element base and devices of analog waveguide processors. He investigated the processes of recording and reconstruction of waveguide holograms, nonlinear-optical interaction of spatially inhomogeneous light waves in photorefractive crystals and developed a description of the characteristics of laser radiation in optical fibers, which served as the basis for creating new correlation methods for processing optical interferometers.

Developed original constructions of sensors of physical quantities, proposed and studied a new class of optical interferometers - single-fiber multimode interferometers. He solved the problems of tomographic recovery of the spatial distribution of vector physical fields and developed neural network methods for reconstructing real-time field distribution using distributed fiber-optic measurement networks.
